Obituary of Lydia Mardelle Forman

Lydia Mardelle Forman,
91, of Kingwood, WV, and formerly of Bruceton Mills, WV, passed away Friday, May 12, 2023.
The daughter of the late Roy Reid and Mae Myers Hopkins, she was born in Weston, WV, February 21, 1932.
After graduating from Walkersville High School, Mardelle continued her education by earning a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education from Fairmont State College and a Master’s in Education from West Virginia University. Mardelle loved her 36-year career as an elementary school teacher. During most of her career she taught first grade at Bruceton Elementary School, where she was blessed to have taught all three of her children and one grandchild. Mardelle was a long-time member of the Preston County Retired Teacher/Employee Associations.
She was a member of the Bruceton United Methodist Church and later attended Wesleyan United Methodist Church in Kingwood, WV. Mardelle and her late husband, James, were very active in the Bruceton Community.
She is survived by her three children: a daughter Joyce Bernatowicz, and her husband, Ludwik; and two sons and their wives, Bill Forman and Sharon and Bob Forman and Linda. Also, surviving are six grandchildren: James Forman (Suzanne), Jared Forman (Jennifer), Christopher Forman (Lara), Brian Bernatowicz (Sarah), Alex Forman (Jessica) and Craig Bernatowicz (Madison); and eleven great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, James Milton Forman.
Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, on Monday, May 15, 2023, from 3:00 until 7:00 p.m., and on Tuesday, May 16, 2023, at the Bruceton United Methodist Church from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service with Pastors Steve Wotring and Tim Edin officiating.
Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery Bruceton Mills (Pisgah), WV.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Bruceton United Methodist Church, 253 Compressor Station Rd., Bruceton Mills, WV 26525.
