Obituary of Mary Barbara Lebnick
Mary Barbara Lebnick,
96, of Bruceton Mills, WV, went to be with the Lord, dying peacefully in her sleep, April 6, 2018.
The daughter of the late Valentine and Katherine Fortuna Bogatay, she was born September 25, 1921, in Avella, PA.
Mary was a 1939 graduate of Avella High School. In 1945 she married Steve Lebnick, who preceded her in death in 1990. The Lebnick's were actively engaged in dairy farming for 50 years in the Glade Farms area of Preston County until their retirement. She was a member of the Salem Church of the Brethren where she taught the adult Sunday School Class for many years, as well as serving on various administrative church boards. Mary was a supervisor with the Monongahela Soil and Water Conservation District, an avid gardener, and enjoyed traveling and all aspects of the natural world.
She is survived by a daughter and her husband, Stephanie "Stevie" and Larry Bayles, of Alpine Lake, Terra Alta, WV; a son and his wife, John Michael and Diane Lebnick, of Waynesboro, VA; a son-in-law, Michael Shuppe, of Pickerington, OH; two grandchildren: Amy Shuppe of Blacklick, OH, and Brian Shuppe and his wife, Toni, of Baden, PA; and three great-grandchildren: Savanna, Juliette and Hallie of Baden, PA.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Patricia Ann Shuppe, and a sister, Lillian Bogatay Resnik.
Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, Monday, from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m., and Tuesday, April 10, 2018, from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service in the Salem Church of the Brethren, Bruceton Mills, with Pastor Donnie Savage officiating. Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery, Bruceton Mills.
