Obituary of Mary Elizabeth Appleby

Mary Elizabeth Scott Appleby, 85, of Bruceton Mill, WV, formally of Hopwood, Pa, died Tuesday, June 13, 2023, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, in Morgantown, WV. The daughter of the late Charles and Eizabeth Wilson Scott, she was born June 21, 1937, in Uniontown, Pa. Mary enjoyed going to various Casinos with her friends, attending the YMCA and participating in activities with her Hopwood friends. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Donna and Ken Wotring and Cathy and Bill Spindler of Bruceton Mills, WV; two sons, Scott Appleby of Bruceton Mills and George Appleby and wife, Lori, of Uniontown, PA; four siblings; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Harold Ashton Appleby and a daughter-in-law, Michelle Appleby. A memorial service will be held Friday, June 23, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. in the Clifton Mills Church of the Brethren, Clifton Mills (Bruceton Mills), WV, with Pastor Steve Wotring officiating. Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV will be assisting the family with cremation and memorial services.
