Marvin Paul Bishop,
88, of Valley Point, WV, died Sunday May 14, 2023, at Kingwood Healthcare Center (Stonerise), surrounded by his loving family. He was greeted in heaven by his wife, Charlotte, which would have been their 68th wedding anniversary.
The son of the late Stephen and Goldie Radabaugh Bishop, he was born on December 27, 1934, in Valley Point.
Marvin served for eight years in the WV National Guard and attended Mt. Moriah Church. He found joy in his family and helped both of his sons build their homes. He enjoyed going camping, watching NASCAR, going to “The Point” for morning coffee, and mowing grass with his John Deere.
He is survived by two sons and their spouses of Valley Point, Jim and Tina Bishop and Philip and Teresa Bishop; seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Jarrett), Jamie (Ryan), Jessica (Roger), Brandon, Steven (the late Stephanie Groves), LaDawna (Wes) and Nicole; seventeen great-grandchildren: Lia (Isaiah), Lexi, Levi, Gideon, Lilu, Leeland, Aaden, Gemma, Haley, Mattie, Laney, Brody, Ciara, Rihanna, Brycelynn, Colton and Dawn; a sister and her spouse, Maxine and Russell Sliger; brothers-and sisters-in-law: Jennings and Carol Sanders, Jim and Phyllis Oarr, Carolyn Rader and Sue Bishop; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his loving wife, Charlotte Sanders Bishop, on May 2009; two grandsons, Philip “PJ” Bishop and Brent Dietz; and a brother, Willis K. Bishop.
Family and friends will be received at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home, Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, on Thursday, May 18, 2023, from 3:00 to 7:00 pm and from 10:00 until the 11:00 am service with Pastor Joe Lamm officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Moriah Cemetery, Albright (Valley Point) WV.
