Obituary of Diana Lynn Cunningham
Please share a memory of Diana to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Diana Lynn Cunningham,
67, passed away on September 6, 2021, at Mon Health Center, Morgantown, WV. The daughter of the late Helen and Paul Martin, she was born September 18, 1953, in Morgantown, WV. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Don
Lynn’s gregarious personality ensured that those around her would be guaranteed to laugh or smile when she was in the room. Her quirky sense of humor was truly one-of-a-kind. Over the years, Lynn became known for her bottomless purse that contained an unending supply of trinkets, toys, candy, and coloring books designed to keep any child entertained. She developed a passion for collecting millions of buttons and thousands of marbles, and nobody knows why.
Lynn served as secretary with Preston County Schools for several years. She truly enjoyed going to work and fondly spoke of the good times and laughs shared with her co-workers as she recounted tales of the jokes they played on each other. Lynn was a member of the Hopewell Union Church where she enjoyed decades of fellowship with her church family and friends.
Survived by her husband Bob, Lynn’s proudest accomplishment was the family they created during their 49 years together. She absolutely beamed with pride whenever she talked about their three sons and their families: Tim and Lori Cunningham, Rodney Cunningham and Wendy Bryte, and Randy and Jennifer Cunningham. Lynn is also survived by her sister, Barb Thomas, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories.
The true highlight of Lynn’s days was spending time with her seven grandkids. Known as “Grammy Lynn”, she was a grandma who was always willing to roll around the floor with her grandkids, get covered in paint and glitter, or show off her dance moves. Her decades of chiropractor bills prove just how much fun a grandma could be. Payton, Reagan, Alison, Cori, Emerson, Cooper, and Kamryn were truly the “apples of her eye”, and time spent with Grammy Lynn was always memorable.
Due to the current prevalence of the COVID virus, the family will be holding a private graveside service with Rev. Joe Lamm and Rev. Lynda Masters officiating. In lieu of sending flowers, the family requests that you do what Lynn would want you to do—buy flowers for yourself, sit on your front porch (as she loved to do), and smile as you recall a fond memory of your time together with Lynn.
The Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.
