Jackson P. Lawson,
81, of Cumberland, MD, died Friday, July 16, 2021, at Cumberland Health Center in Cumberland, MD.
The son of the late Everett and Rosalie Reckart Lawson, he was born on October 29, 1934.
A graduate of Bruceton High School, Jackson then attended WVU, and in 1952, he became an elementary school teacher and taught for two years in a one room school. He then served two years in the U.S. Army in Germany.
After his discharge from the Army, he was employed with Kelly Springfield Tire Plant in Cumberland and worked there for 28 ½ years and attended schools in MD to further his education. Jackson also attended NIOSH training for two weeks at WVU and became certified as a mine safety inspector.
Jackson was a member of the Fort Cumberland Lodge 211 A. F. & A. M., now Queen City Lodge 131 A.F. & A.M., since 1968, 33rd Degree with the Cumberland Scottish Rites Bodies, and Ali Ghan Shrine since 1967. He was also a member of the Fort Cumberland Post 13, American Legion, Cumberland Moose 271, Cresaptown Eagles 2883, and the Allegheny Crime Solvers since 1987.
He is survived by a brother and his wife, Tommy Robert and Anna Belle Lawson, and several nieces and nephews.
Jackson was preceded in death by his former wife, Shirley; a son; a daughter; and a sister, Marian Nieman.
Cremation services were provided by Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV.
