Thomas G. Gibson
Thomas G. Gibson, passed away May 7, 2021 at home. He was born in Kingwood, WV, March 16, 1940, the son of the late Guy and Leah Grace Field Gibson.
He graduated from Bruceton High School in 1958 and served his country in the United States Air Force working on planes with the 49th Tac Fighter Wing Hydraulics-their motto was “Like Man, Where’s the Leak”. Upon his discharge, he enrolled and graduated from Vale Technical Institute, Inc. In Blairsville, PA in 1963. He worked at Bob Murphy’s Garage in Bruceton Mills and leased the business for one year-then came to Morgantown for employment at Auto Parts. I 1967 he was hired by Mon Power at the Fort Martin Power Station as a maintenance mechanic from which he retired in 1999 after 32 years.
Tom is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Carolyn Carr Gibson; a daughter and her spouse, Amy Gibson Nicholas and Lesle of Cleveland, TN; a son and his spouse, Harold G. Gibson and Brooke of Shepherdstown, WV; a proud grandfather of two grandsons, Jabin and Jevon Nicholas, two granddaughters, Devin Gibson Banks and her spouse Colin of Falling Waters, WV and Graeson Gibson of Morgantown; a great grandson, Brooks Banks “Little Man”, a sister-in-law, Carol Price Gibson; a niece, Lisa Wade, and very special friends, Clark and Lorraine Spitznogle.
He was preceded in death by a brother John William Gibson.
Tom enjoyed his retirement years collecting and repairing clocks and pocket watches. His greatest accomplishment was making five fiddles and playing them and a guitar with many WV people. He enjoyed Friday evening jam sessions at the Westside Senior Center.
Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, Tuesday, May 11, 2021, from 12 noon until the 3 p.m. service time with Pastor Willard Rowan officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery, Bruceton Mills (Pisgah Community), WV.
Due to the COVID-19, masks must be worn, social distancing practiced and limit your time at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the Westside Senior Center, 500 DuPont Road, Westover, WV 26501
