Rev. Vicki D. Sheppard,
67, of Bruceton Mills, WV, went home to be with the Lord Monday, January 4, 2021, at J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.
The daughter of Dora Blanche Wilson Neely of Rock Cave, WV, and the late Mason Lee Neely, she was born May 4, 1953, in Lorain, OH.
After graduating from Buckhannon High School, Rev. Vicki graduated from WV Wesleyan College in 1988, received her Master of Divinity from Pittsburgh Theological School in 1994 and was ordained a deacon in 1992 and an elder in 1998. She was the Chairperson of the Mon Valley District Committee on Superintendency, a member of the Mon Valley District Committee on Ministry and WV Conference Board of Ministry, and parish coordinator of the Cheat Mountain Cooperative Parish. Rev. Vicki served as the minister at Ellamore Charge from 1983 to 1988, the Bonlee Charge (NC) from 1988 until 1989, and the Bruceton Mills Charge from 1989 to the present.
In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Richard Nathaniel Sheppard; two sons and their spouses: S. Christopher and Angel Phillips of Powell, TN, and Benjamin and Marisha Phillips of Bruceton Mills; a step-daughter, Janet Starr Sheppard, and her companion, James Moser, of Siler City, NC; grandchildren: Hannah and Ben Kolet, Gabriel, Rebekah, Gideon, Tirzah, Ashlynn, and Kaylan Phillips; and a nephew, Brian Patrick Neely, and his children: Colin, Claire, and Cameron Neely.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, Denzil Allen and Sharon Neely.
Family and friends may call at the Bruceton United Methodist Church in Bruceton Mills, Wednesday, January 6, 2021, from 2-5 p.m., and Thursday, January 7, 2021, from 10 a.m. until the 11:00 a.m. service with Revs. Mary Ellen Finegan and Pat Kerr officiating. Graveside services and burial will follow at 2:30 at the Rock Cave Cemetery in Rock Cave, WV.
Due to the COVID-19 virus and for the safety of everyone attending the visitation at the Bruceton United Methodist Church, visitors are requested to wear a face covering, practice social distancing, and avoid lingering after paying respects to the Sheppard family.
Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills will be assisting the family with funeral arrangements. The family would welcome condolences on the funeral home website.
