Delmus Aubra Bolyard,
74, of Bruceton Mills, WV, passed away peacefully and surrounded by his loved ones at his home, Sunday, October 25, 2020, after a courageous battle with cancer.
The son of the late Bennie A. and Lucy L. Zinn Bolyard, he was born June 24, 1946, in Tunnelton, WV.
Delmus was a U.S. Army veteran who served honorably for 25 years, including a tour in Desert Strom. He was a member of the VFW Post 2523, the Hopewell Union Church, and was a retired employee of Sterling Faucet/Kohler as an engineer analyst and machinist for 40 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed gardening and fishing.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Jean Cunningham Bolyard; two sons and their wives: Christopher L. and Ann Bolyard of Fairmont, WV, and Jeffrey S. and Leslie Bolyard of Cranesville, WV; a brother and his wife, Thomas A. and Violet Bolyard, of Parma, OH; sisters-in-law: Ruby V. Simpson Bolyard of Howesville, WV, and Sarah L. Yoder Bolyard of Ocala, FL; grandchildren, Grayson D. and Landon S. Bolyard of Cranesville and River A. Bolyard of Fairmont; brothers-in law: Harold Cunningham, Jr., Robert Cunningham and his wife, Lynn, and Richard Cunningham and his wife, Terrie; sister-in-law and her husband, Sharon and Steve Shaffer; several nieces and nephews; and many good friends.
In addition to his parents, Delmus was preceded in death by his brothers, Alston R. Bolyard and Larry W. Bolyard and a sister, Carolyn A. Bolyard.
Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, WV, Tuesday, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., and Wednesday, October 28, 2020, from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. service in the funeral home with Pastors Steve Wotring and Tim Wotring officiating. Burial will follow at the Bruceton Cemetery with military honors provided by the Preston County Military Honor Guard, and the WVANG Funeral Honors, Camp Dawson.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Hopewell Union Church, P.O. Box 554, Bruceton Mills, WV, 26525, or the American Cancer Society.
Due to the COVID-19 virus and for the safety of everyone attending the visitation and funeral service, visitors are requested to wear a face covering, practice social distancing, and avoid lingering after paying requests to the Bolyard family.
