Obituary of Edwin Frank Dunson

Edwin F. Dunson, Sr., 84, of Bruceton Mills (Glade Farms Community), WV, died Monday, July 18, 2016, at Preston Memorial Hospital, Kingwood, WV. The son of the late Rev. William Cecil Dunson and Elva Ola Hurst Dunson, he was born September 9, 1931, in Upshur county, WV. A U.S. Army Veteran from the Koren Conflict, he retired as a proud engineer from CSX Railroad and was a member of Shady Grove Church of the Brethren. Edwin is survived by his wife, Betty A. Jennings Dunson; a daughter, Susan L Howe of Parsons, TN; three sons: Edwin F. Dunson, Jr., of Bruceton Mills, Cecil Lloyd Dunson of Terra Alta, WV, and John Ross Dunson of Ft. Pierce, FL; nine grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren; and a brother, Danny Dunson, of DE. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife, Vera Metheny Dunson; four sisters: Neva L. Buckhannon, Rose Dunson Minor, Loverah Johnson, and Erriga Spiker; three brothers: Charles, William and Carl Dunson; and two daughters-in-law, Darlene and Kathryn Dunson. Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, Wednesday, from 4-6 p.m., in the funeral home and Thursday, July 21, 2016, from 10:00 until the 11:00 a.m. service in the Shady Grove Church of the Brethren, with Rev. Barry M. Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery, Terra Alta, WV, with military honors provided by the Preston County VFW Posts, the Vietman Veterans of America, Chapter 977 Preston County, WV and WVANG Military Funeral Honors, Camp Dawson.
