Obituary of John Dieter Bachert

John D. Bachert,

     63, of Bruceton Mills, WV, passed away Friday, July 13, 2018, at his home.
     The son of Lore Trost Bachert of Dale City, VA, and the late Mathias Bachert, he was born February 23, 1955, in Bayern, Germany.
     John enjoyed the "salt life" -- the OBX, camping, fishing, and crabbing.  He was a "jack of all trades": maintenance manager at Haydentown Apartments, mechanic, painting, electrician, plumbing, and furniture making.  And, he was lovingly called Opie by his grandchildren.
     In addition to his mother, he is survived by two daughters and their spouses, Christina and Jeremy Hall of Bruceton Mills and Kimberly and Mickey Frum of Morgantown, WV;  eleven grandchildren:  Eric Taylor, George, Chasity and Jimmy Overton, Michael, Julia, and Mathew McKay, Aislin, Emma and Ryleigh Hall, and Michael Henson; six  great-grandchildren: Giana, Jaecob, Jayden, Wyatt, Roianne and Ashton; two brothers of Virginia: Jerry Bachert and his wife, Kathy, and Fred Bachert; two sisters: Inge McPherson and her husband, Larry, of AL, and Nancy Crawford and her significant other, Randy, of VA; a nephew, Brian and two nieces, Dawn and Lexi; his two best friends, Marty Richards and Steve Christopher; and his pets: Puggy, Sophie, and Peaty.
     In addition to his father, John was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte "Susie' Bachert; a brother, Roland Bachert; and two step-daughters, Darla and Crystal.
     Family and friends are invited to a memorial service for John at the Shady Grove Church of the Brethren in Bruceton Mills, WV, Saturday, July 21, 2018, from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. service in the church, with Pastor Barry M. Adkins officiating.
     Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills will be providing cremation services.
