James C. Turney,
      91, of Bruceton Mills, WV, passed away Saturday, February 24, 2018, in his home.
     The son of the late Henry Earl and Esther Hanfp Turney, he was born November 20, 1926, in Addison, PA.
     Jim was a member of the Shady Grove Church of the Brethren.  A veteran of World War II, he was a Merchant Marine in the U.S. Coast Guard and worked for Mon Power Co. from which he retired after 37 years.
     He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jessie Mae Matthews Turney; two daughters and their spouses, Judy and Bob Metheny of Bruceton Mills and Sandra and Greg Bennett of Vienna, VA; four grandchildren and spouses: Kevin and Tracy Metheny of Bruceton Mills, Jason and Michelle Metheny of Clarksburg, WV, Chase and Christina Bennett, and Stacy Bennett; six great-grandchildren:  Samantha, Aron, Samara, Torrie, Malisa, and Ryan; two great-great-grandchildren: Paxton and Chase; two sisters: Ruth Baker of Belleville, PA, and Shirley Baddorf and her husband, Dave, of Lansdale, PA; and a brother and his wife, Harold and Marilyn Turney of Upper Chichester, PA.
     In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Carl James Turney, a brother, Kenneth Turney, a sister-in-law, Betty Turney, and a brother-in-law Bill Baker.
     Family and friends may call at the Carl R. Spear Funeral Home in Brandonville-Bruceton Mills, Monday, from 6-8 p.m., and Tuesday, February 27, 2018, from 12 noon until the 1:00 p.m. service in the funeral chapel with Chaplain Craig Falkenstine officiating.
     Burial will follow in the Shady Grove Cemetery, Bruceton Mills, WV.
     The family want to thank Amedisys Hospice Care for their love and support and Chaplains Falkenstine and Nathain for their fellowship and support.
